Meet Wallace…

September 28, 2008

the scarecrow! Piper named him. I have no idea why Wallace, but Wallace it is and Wallace it will stay! This is our creation that we spent all of today creating. Our front porch has 4 hay bales, tons of fall colored mums and then there’s Wallace :) Props to Jonny for driving to get the hay…you are the best! It was fun to make…we all had a good laugh! It was a nice way to spend the weekend together before things get crazy with lots of upcoming photo shoots…my weekends are going to be a wee-bit hectic in October and November! I knew that if I didn’t accomplish my fall decorating this weekend, it just wouldn’t get done! So, here he is…Sir Wallace!

National Alpaca Farm Days!

September 27, 2008

You might be thinking…really? They have those? I thought that too until last night, while watching the Presidential Debate. A commercial came on and was advertising National Alpaca Farm Days for both today and tomorrow. I was curious, so I visited the website and sure enough Alpaca Farms around the country are hosting 2 days filled with education and up-close action with these adorable little sweeties. We packed up Piper and Olivia today and headed to Dunnellon to see what they were all about. What an awesome experience. The kids got to feed them, get up close to them and even touch their exceptionally soft fur. It was fun to see them react to the Alpaca’s and vice versa. It’s not something you get to do everyday and it was totally worth it. Check out your area and see where the nearest Alpaca farm is. It will be running all day tomorrow as well…remember this is all over the country not just here in Florida! You and your kids will learn and touch and smell and feel. It’s all very, very educational and fun. Plus, the weather has been gorgeous!

Just a few shots of the little guys!

Yes, his teeth really are THAT yellow! They don’t care too much about dental hygiene apparently :)

Givin’ me the (VERY) hairy eyeball

You can just SEE how soft their fur is! It really is gorgeous.

So, go check ‘em out :) You’ll be glad you did!!

The new website is now live. There are a few things to tweak here and there, but for the most part we are good to go! Check it out here. The best news for my clients is that there is now a shopping cart to make things easier when ordering. I’m completely excited about that!! It will make things go nice and smooth on both ends! My old site was fun, but I felt like we needed a fresh look…something more simplistic and clean. Hope you guys like it as much as I do!! Hooray for positive change!

It fills my heart…

September 21, 2008

to see that smile! I feel pure joy when I see this :) I have enjoyed much cooperation from her recently when getting some photographs for our walls! FINALLY…gee, it only took 4 years to get to this point :) I’ve been eating it up. I’m getting excited about my upcoming sessions…they are going to be a blast. I have some really wonderful couples to shoot and it’s gonna be awesome to hang out with them all :) Keep on checking back for those in the weeks to come :)

And so it begins…

Random Sunday!

September 14, 2008

Hi everyone! Just a random Sunday post, while Piper sits on the couch receiving Vest Therapy. This morning, as I was making her breakfast, I realized that my regiment of increasing her calorie intake has become merely a part of my daily life. I find the most incredible ways of adding calories to everything she eats. Her green beans are toppled with heaps of butter, I add cream to her cereal, I make her milkshakes, I use whole milk products, I slip avacado into her sandwiches…you name it, I’ll try it. If you have any ideas of fatty things to give her, bring it on. I am forever on a search to find new things to do. We have been incredibly blessed in keeping weight on Piper. Her doctors and nurses “ooh and ahh” at her at every CF clinic check-up. CF is well-known for causing malnutrition and low-weight, resulting in a sickly and thinning child, which ultimately leads to poor lung health. It’s crazy how it’s all related. When I heard all this, I was like “nuh-uh” (insert shaking finger here) and I used to overfeed Piper when she was a baby haha, just to make sure. She’d fall asleep and I’d tickle her face and make her finish whatever it was she was eating. I guess you could say food has been priority 1 in this house. She hated me for it for the longest time…refusing to eat. I learned quickly that creating food battles only makes things worse and yet, God has most graciously blessed Piper with chunky legs and a protruding belly. I love every pudge…to me it means that God has his hands on her and that I am doing my job as caregiver. At 4, Piper has taken to eating FINALLY. She gobbles down pretty much anything I give her and I am so very thankful. That being said, I still make it my life’s work to sneak in calories where I can. This morning I was making her breakfast and doing my usual “routine” and I thought…”you know what, most people don’t do this” haha…most people don’t feed their children THIS many calories for breakfast! She downed a waffle with butter and peanut butter, 2 giant bottles of whole milk and then polished off a bunch of graham crackers. Here is the kicker! Her doctor has prescribed those fatty breakfast drinks too and without batting an eye, I just add it to her milk. I looked at the back today and this is what I found:

haha…with calories like THAT, I refuse to even lick my finger if some gets on my hand.  That can is super small too! Isn’t that cuh-razy??? Jonny tried drinking one and nearly gagged, but Piper loves them and asks me for them, so hey…whatever works, right? Thank heaven for products like this…especially on the “picky eater” days!

On another random note, I am in L-O-V-E with this song. His voice is so awesome and the song is incredibly sweet…I swoon everytime I hear it :)

Finally, we have lots of great stuff coming in the month of October! It’s a VERY busy month indeed, but I am SO excited for everything!! The ball is rolling :) I thought our season was supposed to be slowing down haha…this might be my busiest month yet! Enjoy your Sunday :)

A is for: a-dor-a-ble

September 7, 2008

This morning I had the pleasure of meeting little Miss A. She is the sweetest little 2 month old around :) I forget sometimes how tiny these little sweethearts are! I’m so used to my rambunctious 4 year-old and when I get to spend some time with the little one’s it makes my heart skip a beat and I begin to remember how incredibly amazing that stage of life is. It makes my heart sing! A giant thanks to Miss A’s mommy and daddy for performing acrobatics and re-arranging furniture in their beautiful home to get these shots. Here’s a little teaser :) Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home this morning and for allowing me to meet your sweet, sweet angel! This first image, I am in love with. I couldn’t decide between the color or the Black and White-ish, so I’m posting them both :)

More vintage goodness :)

September 5, 2008

I’ve been on a vintage kick lately! I can’t get enough. I keep having these ideas pop into my head and I can’t stop them :) So, rather than fight them off…I figured I’d take action! Piper…pretending to be mommy :) Notice her pearls…hehe I love it! The hat is Jonny’s marine cover and the camera is from my office :) Slap ‘em all together and you’ve got yourself a little 1940’s Diva :) Enjoy your weekend!
